SAME BUILDING. FRESH LAYOUT.
Professional muscle for in-home and same-building moves.Renovating a room or moving to a new unit upstairs? We shift the heavy stuff so you don't have to. No trucks, no hotels.
How can we help you?
Service
Which service do you need?
When this service fits
When does an in-home move actually make sense?
You don't need a truck. You don't need a new address. You just need heavy stuff to be somewhere else by Monday morning. Most of our in-home moves fall into one of four buckets. Recognize the pattern, and you'll know whether to call us or whether you can shuffle furniture yourself.
Renovation prep
Floor refinishers showing up Monday, contractor demoing a wall on Wednesday, painter starting the whole upstairs next week. Whoever's coming in to do the work needs the room clear. We move the bed, the dresser, and the sectional into the guest room or garage today and bring it back the day the work wraps up. Cheaper than renting a POD for a week, faster than asking the contractor to "work around it."
Same-building unit changes
Upgrading from a 1-bedroom to a 2-bedroom in the same building when your lease rolls over. The building still wants a Certificate of Insurance 48 hours ahead, the elevator still needs a reservation, and the doorman still wants the move done in the booked window. We handle the paperwork and pad the elevator. The fact that you're going up three floors instead of across town doesn't change any of that.
Listing prep and staging
Stager wants the kitchen counters bare and the living-room sectional replaced with two armchairs. Realtor wants photos on Friday. We clear the rooms the stager identified, store what's leaving on the truck or in our Gaithersburg warehouse if you need it gone for weeks, and bring it back after the photo shoot or after closing. Faster than asking friends with pickup trucks.
Office reconfig + aging-in-place
Suite next door opened up and you're combining floors. Adult kids moving back home and the home office needs to become a bedroom. Aging parent moving in and the main-floor den is being converted to their suite. Same pattern: heavy pieces, professional muscle, no truck driving, no surprise charges for "just down the hall."
What we bring with us
Furniture pads, moving blankets, four-wheel dollies, shoulder straps, floor runners (the carpeted kind, not plastic), and tools for disassembly and reassembly. We protect floors and doorframes before we touch anything heavy. If the building requires a COI we send it from our office the same day you book. If you live in a condo with strict elevator rules we work inside the window the building gives us. None of that is extra.
What We Move
Two common situations. Same crew, same care, no truck needed.

How It Works
We ask the right questions upfront so the estimate actually reflects your move.
Services
We start with what you need. Moving a single heavy piece, a full room, or switching units entirely? Any furniture that needs disassembly or reassembly along the way?
Place
Then we learn about the property. House or apartment, number of bedrooms, how many stories, finished basement, garage, attic.
Access
Next we cover the logistics. Elevator, stairs, or both? How far between the pickup and drop-off spots? Any tight hallways or doorways to watch?
Inventory
Finally we walk through what's moving. Every major piece, plus a rough box count. If renovation is involved, we plan around the work timeline.
You get a detailed estimate
Once we have the full picture, we put together a clear, itemized estimate. You can be confident we've covered everything, because we asked about everything.

Same seasonal pricing rules apply. You'll be on the higher end during summer, end-of-month, Fridays, Saturdays, and holidays.
Typical price ranges:
- Small jobs (less than a full apartment, single room, etc.): $300 to $400

- Three-bedroom homes and larger: $1,000 to $2,000
We do it all the time. We bring four-wheel dollies to roll things through, and most items don't need packing. For tight fits, we wrap furniture in blankets to protect both the furniture and your walls from damage.
Yes. We can either move everything into another room temporarily, or take it to our storage facility and bring it back when you're ready.
Yes. Heavy items get the same protection as a full move: blankets, tape, and shrink wrap. We move them in, unwrap them, and leave you with no property damage and no damaged items.
Absolutely. Just let us know at least one day in advance, and the COI will be in your inbox in no time.

What our customers say
“I had an excellent experience with Blue Crab Moving. The team was punctual very professional, and handled all of my belongings with great care. They worked efficiently, communicated clearly throughout the process, and made my move stress-free. The pricing was fair with no surprises, and everything arrived safely and in perfect condition. I highly recommend Blue Crab Moving to anyone looking for reliable and trustworthy movers.”
“Great company , highly professional , helpful and friendly . I definitely recommend them and I would use them again.”
“I cannot recommend the Blue Crab team more highly. They are meticulous, creative and very focused on customer service. I had a partial-house, 3,000 pound move that included unloading half of the furniture to a condominium and half to storage unit, boht of which were 800 miles from pick-up. The Blue Crab team worked with me on the delivery date, and listened to and addressed my worries about certain fragile pieces of furniture. They also had continuity of the three-person team, making sure one person was at both ends of the move. Furniture was well labeled and wrapped, and the team was skilled at dis- and re-assembly. It was such a pleasant experience that I almost forgot I was in the middle of move! I cannot recommend them more highly (I have moved cross country 2x with national moving companies and had countless other smaller moves over 40 years and Blue Crab is the best team I have ever had).”
