Where We Move
We move across Maryland, D.C., Virginia, and West Virginia. Every area has its own rules. DC needs row-house permits. Bethesda has loading docks. Old Town Alexandria has cobblestones. Harpers Ferry has narrow hills. Pick your city below to see how we work there.
Why a DMV-Focused Mover Matters
Blue Crab Moving Services is owner-operated by two crews with 12+ years each in the DMV moving industry. We are licensed under USDOT 4539918 and MC 1801440, insured for local and interstate work, and headquartered in Gaithersburg, Maryland with a climate-controlled storage facility on site. We do not broker your move to a third-party crew. The same Blue Crab name on the truck on move day is the name you booked with.
The DMV is not one moving market. It is four overlapping ones. Washington, D.C. has narrow row-house streets, parking permits issued by DDOT, and historic districts that limit truck access. Northern Virginia high-rises require a Certificate of Insurance 48 hours in advance and a reserved loading-dock window. Suburban Montgomery and Fairfax counties have HOA rules about weekend moves and flatbed truck height clearances. Eastern Panhandle West Virginia adds rural roads and limited cellular coverage to the mix. A crew that handles every move the same way will miss something in at least three of those four markets.
Each city below has its own guide covering local neighborhoods, the buildings and HOAs we work with most, average move prices, and the permit + COI logistics we already know about. If you do not see your city listed, we probably still service it - call us and we will tell you honestly.
